Back to work

Hobbling to work today was no joke! Took me almost 20 minutes to get to the MRT station instead of the usual 10. Ended up taking the late train, even though I did set off earlier than usual. And luckily the hubs was with me coz it really was very trying and painful walking “long” distance.

Knew I had no chance fighting with the other commuters to board the company bus in this kind of condition. Messaged my colleagues in the end to ask if they wanted to share a cab in with me. Luckily they were pretty ok, knowing full well that taking the cab in alone would cost about $7. Funny thing was that we ended up being earlier than the company bus, that somehow was late today.

Got teased by almost everyone at the office, although they were actually pretty concerned about my condition. Most asked if I needed a trolley to get about the office. Some asked whether they should injure my other foot, so that I would have to force both legs to heal faster in order to be mobile (courtesy of Dan). My boss even offered to buy me a walking stick! Gawd!

However, I had to admit defeat by lunch even though I wasn’t walking around much. KI ended up helping me buy lunch back so that I need not walk around to much. After that, I really dreaded the coming trip home and how I was going to have to fight to commute back to central. Thanks to Dan, I ended up having to worry needlessly; I got a lift right back to my doorstep in the end.

Am so not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow, after all the inconvenience experienced today. I wonder if I should bring my late granny’s walking stick to work instead…
